-1-3 years of experience in Medical Billing
General:
Works with referral sources, physician's offices and patients to build an order. Works with company billing personnel to provide documents needed for reimbursement.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for all incoming referrals and orders for delivery and pick up, including but not limited to:
- Patient demographics
- Emergency contact information
- Insurance information and verification
- Physician information
- Diagnosis
- Billing information
- collections
Completes verification of insurance for DME coverage and prior authorization information, including but not limited to:
- Deductible
- Effective date
- Claims address
Completes any special instructions for billing to the patient's insurance prior to the delivery.
Work with HME office manager and Warehouse personnel to meet the patient’s needs for unusual equipment or supplies.
Inform patient or patient’s caregiver of benefits (what the policy reimburses). Arrange private pay billing if required.
Works with patients/clients to solve a variety of problems, thereby acting as a company field representative.
Work with family or referral source and warehouse personnel on delivery and/or pick up arrangements.
Responsible for working "Open Orders Report."
Responsible for confirming completed work orders in a timely manner.
Responsible for forwarding completed paperwork to the HME office manager to log equipment set-up and pick up for tracking purposes.
Promotes teamwork among co-workers, including assisting fellow office workers, as needed.
Takes “on call” time on a predetermined, rotating basis.
Demonstrates timeliness, courtesy, sincerity and patience when dealing with customers.
Markets the company in a positive and professional manner at all times.
Assumes other duties within scope of training as assigned by the HME office manager and/or HME Director.
Environmental Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Must possess mobility to work in and move about in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
Sitting in a seated position for extended periods of time.
Reaching out by extending hands or arms in any direction
Finger dexterity required to manipulate small objects such as using a keyboard
Strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds
Communication skills using the spoken word, both in person and over the telephone.
Visual ability to read materials in either a printed format or on a computer screen
Ability to hear well enough to carry on a normal conversation, both in person and over the telephone.
Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite frequent interruptions.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency
Bilingual preferred
Experience/Knowledge:
-1-3 years of experience in DME and HME
-Good organizational skills. Willing to function as a cooperative team member. Responsible and cooperative attitude. Clean and neat in personal appearance.
