What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor Assistant, Outpatient position at Ashtabula Regional Medical Center?
Assisting the Housing Coordinator with all aspects of the recovery houses. Performs searches of patients’ belongings and rooms as needed. Monitors and assesses the activity and behavior of the residents and makes appropriate interventions. Maintains documentation in the clients/residents charts.

- Knowledge of addiction, treatment and the recovery process.

- Excellent verbal/written and interpersonal communication required.
- Able to maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
- Ability to establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relationships in all encounters.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet multiple demands.
- Basic computer skills including but not limited to: Microsoft office, Outlook, and the aptitude to navigate electronic medical records effectively.
- Basic office equipment skills including but not limited to: photocopiers, scanners, fax machines, telephone system, shred boxes, calculators, computers, printers and keyboards.

- Required Length and Type of Experience

- Addiction treatment experience.

- Required Licensure or Certification

- Peer Support or Recovery coach certification preferred.
- BLS certified.

- Able to work under periods of high stress and in a consistently fast-paced environment.
- Stretching, bending, lifting, extensive walking throughout hospital grounds and/or buildings, repetitive hand motion, sitting, standing and spending considerable amount of time sitting at a desk or computer terminal.
