Summary
The Graduate Intern - RN works under the direction of the preceptor to orient themselves to the role of a Registered Nurse. This role demonstrates an understanding that all caregivers are responsible for patient safety. They will perform indirect patient care duties that support the efficient functioning of the nursing unit as assigned by a Registered Nurse. This includes the ability to utilize electronic medical record systems to assist in the care of the patient. Provide age-appropriate care. Adhere to organized policies and procedures. Adheres to the "Patient First" philosophy. This individual will encounter Protected Health Information (PHI) as part of their regular responsibilities.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing and does not hold a license as a Registered Nurse.
Required Length and Type of Experience
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing but not currently licensed
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent customer interaction skills.
Required Licensure or Certification
- Current BLS certification (maybe obtained during orientation).
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
- Sitting, standing, ability to utilize keyboard, lifting, stooping, flexible scheduling and adaptable to a changing environment.
- Requires a full range of motion, manual finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Requires walking and standing for extensive periods of time.
- Requires hearing and vision corrected to normal range.
- May require some exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.
