What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Companion position at Ashtabula Regional Medical Center?
Summary
The Patient Companion/Transporter will support the care of individuals who require full 24-hour observation for their safety. In this role, the employee will:

Support a work environment that promotes safety for patients, staff, and customers.

Report safety concerns or defective equipment.

Maintain awareness of safety at all times. Provide continuous observation of assigned patients to promote safety and prevention of injury.

Maintain continuous observation as needed. Either personally or by safely transferring observation to another team member.

Collect and report data about the patient/family as directed by Registered Nurse.

Remain alert for, and reports changes related to patient safety.

Promptly call for assistance as needed.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Strong attention to detail

Must be able to observe patients visually as well as listening skills. Assist patients in and out of bed when appropriate.

Will be oriented to provide basic patient care duties.

Excellent communication skills.
Required Licensure or Certification

Must obtain BLS during orientation

Annual N-95 mask fit test

CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
