We are an RIA seeking a tax professional to join our growing team. We specialize in providing sophisticated investment management and financial planning solutions, including tax preparation and tax planning, to high net worth individuals and families.
Position Overview
We are looking for experienced, self-motivated, dedicated professionals for tax return preparation, consulting projects, and tax planning for individuals, limited liability companies, trusts, corporations, and estates. This is a key position within our firm with a significant level of client and financial advisor interaction.
Description
Prepare tax returns for high net worth individuals, S corporations and partnerships, as well as estate/trust returns. Assist financial advisors and their clients on tax items from income tax preparation to planning. Perform tax research and articulate results concisely to clients and other team members both verbally and in writing. Respond to and resolve inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities. Work with advisors and their clients to provide a seamless proactive income tax preparation experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare federal and state and multi-state individual, corporate, and trust tax returns
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
- Prepare internal memorandum, written correspondence, and other documents for submission to the IRS or various state agencies
- Assist in compliance with payment, reporting, and other tax requirements
- Conduct extensive tax research for businesses and individuals
- Stay current on tax changes and provide updates to clients and ATPW personnel
- Apply foundational knowledge to understand and address potential tax issues
- Identify meaningful trends or patterns in interactions, situations, and technical data that suggest potential problems or solutions
- Client focused, ensuring clients’ needs and timetables are clearly communicated, understood and met
- Seasonal overtime at certain points in the year, particularly those months leading to and including major tax deadlines
- Interact with clients, referral partners, and other professionals
Qualifications
- 2 years of recent tax preparation experience in a public accounting firm
- CPA or EA certification is required
- Master's degree preferred
- JD, CFP® or PFS™ an asset
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and maintain client relationships
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with Lacerte tax software a plus
Knowledge and Skills
- Extensive and proven experience in tax services in the high net worth and ultra high net worth markets
- Ability to communicate complexity in a simplified manner while maintaining the integrity of the underlying tax principles
- Team player with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated responsiveness to clients, colleagues, and management
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for clients to benefit from other services of the firm
- Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Strong computer skills and ability to work within the Microsoft 365 suite of products
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
