Position Overview:
The Austin division of Ashton Woods Homes is in search of a Director of Finance to work with the VP of Finance on supporting the division operations and providing financial information and analysis for the annual plan and quarterly forecasts, as well as monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reporting. This position will have responsibility for both the Ashton Woods and Starlight divisions in Austin.
Duties and Responsibilities: (Including but not limited to)
- Review monthly financial statements, account summaries and reports.
- Support in the preparation of project proformas, annual plans and other financial projections.
- Liaise with Centralized Accounting and Division Function heads for month-end processes.
- Manage the lot takedown process including ordering wires.
- Reconcile and process monthly option payments for land bankers.
- Prepare and assist with meeting for land budgets, indirect expenses, land allocation costs, VPO and construction variance.
- Assist with land development budgets and perform quarterly land transfer analysis.
- Manage construction indirect budgets and perform quarterly analysis.
- Liaise with real estate tax company on reconciliation and payment.
- Control costs by analyzing budgets and actuals, establishing procedures and implementing corrective action as required.
- Perform continuous improvement of financial processes and make recommendations towards reducing time and improving efficiency in many areas of the business.
- Perform value-added and other ad-hoc analysis and provide decision support for special projects and initiatives across the business.
- Safeguard the Companys assets in accordance with Corporate and Division policy and generally accepted accounting principles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of (5) years accounting/finance experience; direct experience in home building is required.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Experience performing financial planning, budgeting and analysis.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in stressful situations.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High degree of professionalism; ability to communicate with confidence.
- Self-directed; takes initiative, proactively addresses problems; can work with minimal oversight.
- Highly organized and flexible, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines, often with frequent interruptions and changing circumstances in a high-volume fast-paced work environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong/advanced Microsoft Excel skills necessary.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize several tasks without compromising quality of work or missing deadlines.
- Ability to review, analyze and interpret information as well as troubleshoot to solve problems.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication.
- Must be able to interact effectively with all levels of management.
- High proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ability to learn new programs as needed.
- An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and cost accounting.
