What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Pantry Associate position at Ashure Ministry (formerly ECCCM)?
Schedule is Monday - Thursday 8:15 am - 4:45 pm with a 30 minute lunch break - 32 hours per week
Greet all volunteers, making sure they are welcomed, finding a job that suits their skills and abilities. Be friendly and courteous to everyone that comes in for crisis services or to volunteer at Ashure Ministry. Assist in stocking refrigerators, freezers, walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer and helping to maintain correct temperatures. Assist with the distribution of food to clients and help keeps the traffic flowing at the drive-through area where clients receive food. Assist in bringing in donated clothing and other thrift store donations. Provide receipts and record name and address of people making donations for thank you letters and reports to those making donations of food, clothing or other items. Assist with placing unacceptable donations in the appropriate recycling container or dumpster. Assist with the daily intake of grocery store donations, weighing, dating and sorting. Ensure that volunteers are checking food for freshness and all items are in date and that food is rotated in the shelves, keeping oldest to the front. Ensure that only commodities unfit for human consumption are staged as offal. Assist in receiving bulk commodities at the dock, moving items to the freezer, cooler, or warehouse area depending on the commodity. Assist with Friday and/or Saturday grocery store donations, volunteer groups or special projects as directed by Director of Food Pantry Operations when necessary.
Job Requirements:
- Valid NC Driver's License
- No CDL required
