JOB SUMMARY:

The SMH Program Lead is responsible for managing a clinical caseload, clinical supervision of staff, crisis management, and clinic support participate in Quality Reviews of the chart (CQRT) and officer of the day functions within the Specialty Mental Health program. This position reports to the SMH Clinical Manager.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist SMH Clinical Manager in implementing and monitoring assigned program(s)’ service delivery, quality of care, contract deliverables, and future program development.
  • Provide weekly individual/group clinical supervision and oversight for up to 2 FTE staff and/or interns by providing the first level of feedback to staff under their watch.
  • Clinical supervision encompasses all aspects of behavioral health services: intake/assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment interventions, charting procedures, case management, consultation, and case closing procedures.
  • Help maintain their unit’s quality and appropriateness of services, including risk management by performing chart reviews to monitor clinical interventions and documentation of services.
  • Be the Officer of the Day to manage client crisis and client care urgent needs for that day as well as to resolve conflicts between staff members.
  • Function as a professional role model for staff by serving as a motivator to help their team reach a collective goal or level of care.
  • Provide behavioral health service to a caseload of clients by interacting one-on-one with clients and performing the duties of a SMH Counselor IV.
  • Ability to consistently meet patient needs based on agency, manager, and/or contracted agreements’ expectations.
  • Maintain timely and accurate service contacts per appropriate standards and regulations.


Lead Responsibilities
  • As the leader of a team, the SMH Program Lead is responsible for mentoring staff, training newly hired staff and proactively identifying issues that may impact the team’s performance in terms of costs, methods, and personnel and sharing their team performance metrics with upper management.
  • The SMH Program Lead is also responsible for communicating or notifying team members of new information or protocol, assessing team member’s performance and providing feedback.  The individual may participate in interviewing and hiring of employees and plan, assign, and distribute work schedules and resolve conflicts between team members.


General Agency/AHS Duties
  • Fosters an environment that promotes trust and cooperation among clients and staff.
  • Enforces clinic policies and procedures, including maintenance of client confidentiality under HIPAA privacy rules, to ensure that the principles of AHS are implemented.
  • Plays an active role in planning organization-wide activities such as AHS general membership meetings, fundraisers, special clinic days, and other events.
  • Participates in general membership meetings, fundraisers, and other public events, as required.
  • Participates in outreach activities, agency advocacy, and serves on ad hoc committees, as requested.
  • Attends AHS staff retreats and Board of Directors meetings, as required.
  • Participates in agency-wide quality improvement program processes and performance improvement teams to ensure excellence in the quality of services provided across the agency.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited school in social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or related field.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of clinical experience working with Severely Mentally ill AAPI populations.
  • Bilingual/bicultural in an Asian Language.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of current evidence-based theories, principles, and practices for services to clients with serious behavioral health care symptoms and diagnosis.
  • Knowledge of psychological diagnostic methods and terminology.
  • Knowledge of wellness, recovery, and resiliency-oriented strategies and supports.
  • Knowledge of administrative practices and procedures, including records management and billing.
  • Knowledge of cultural issues, community resources, and family dynamics preferred.


Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
  • Valid California professional license in good standing for in LCSW, LMFT, LPPC, Licensed Psychologist.
