Position Summary
The Intern- Bioanalytical and Bioassay opportunity provides students pursuing a career in science valuable experience working in an industrial laboratory environment. This position will involve hands-on training with bioanalytical assays such as cell-based and plate-based immunoassays. The Intern-Bioanalytical and Bioassay will be responsible for activities related to bioanalytical assay development and qualification.
This position will be located in RTP, North Carolina and will report to a Senior Scientist in the Bioanalytical team.
Job Responsibilities
Hands-on training on biochemical techniques such as western blots, enzymatic assays and immunoassays in an industry lab environment
Perform the assays according to the standard operating protocol (SOP) including preparing and diluting samples, preparing standards and reagents, loading sample and reagents onto plates.
Handling various lab equipment involved in the immunoassay experiments
Perform data analysis
Assist in preparing development data summary
Present data to the bioanalytical team on a regular basis
Minimum Requirements
Must be at least a Senior year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or related field
Must have at least 6 months prior experience in laboratory work (this can include academic experience)
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
Students pursuing a Master’s degree in a Scientific field are encouraged to apply.
Prior internship, work, or volunteer/extracurricular experience
Proficient with MS Office Suite and ability to learn new technologies quickly
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Available to work full-time during the summer months (May-August)
Proactive and solution-driven mindset
Strong sense of accountability and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Flexible and willing to support a variety of tasks for the Bioanalysis and Bioassay team.
