Position Summary
The Clinical Immunology Intern will have an opportunity to learn and participate in the daily workflow for the testing of clinical samples using immunological assays in support of our gene therapy programs. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who is looking to build experience and lab skills in basic Biological Science disciplines, such as Cell Biology and Immunology, while being involved in the analysis of clinical samples and contributing to the understanding of AAV Immunogenicity.
This position is located at our Philadelphia site and will report to our Senior Director of Immunology.
Job Responsibilities
Learn the daily workflow for the Philadelphia Clinical Sample Immune Monitoring Laboratory
Participate in biobanking operations including sample receiving and sample inventory management
Assist in scheduling sample testing with other members of the lab
Observe and participate in hands-on training for clinical sample processing
Learn basic laboratory bench skills needed to perform clinical assays
Learn, perform and understand principles of immunological assays
Gain familiarity with regulatory lab standards, such as GxP
Learn data analysis methods and data presentation skills
Drive an independent project in assay development
Participate in regular team meetings
Minimum Requirements
Must be pursuing a BA/BS degree in Biological Sciences or Pre-medical related track
Must be at least a Freshman in college at the time of your application
Must be comfortable working with human biological samples
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
Prior internship, work, or volunteer/extracurricular experience
Experience working in laboratory setting
Proficient with MS Office Suite and ability to learn new technologies quickly
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Available to work full-time during the summer months (May-August) with flexible hours
Proactive and solution-driven mindset
Strong sense of accountability and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Flexible and willing to support a variety of tasks for the Clinical Immunology team
