Position Summary
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Summer Intern to join our Bioanalysis & Bioassay team. The Intern- Translational Medicine offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cell-based assays for gene therapy products. The intern will contribute to the development of biomarker and biofunction detection assays to support early-stage research and development in CNS diseases. This position will allow the intern to build valuable expertise in bioassays and develop practical skills in CNS disease-related projects.
The intern will be based in RTP, North Carolina and will report directly to a Senior Scientist in the Bioanalysis & Bioassay team.
Job Responsibilities
Understand the mechanism of our CNS disease project
Optimize the transduction efficiency in vitro cell model:
Design protocol of transduction steps on such as cell seeding density, preparing AAV and reagents, sample collection, and detection method.
Help to select the most suitable cell model for the mechanism.
Qualify the biomarker detection protocol:
Mechanism-based feasibility testing.
Evaluate the resource for further bioassay development.
Present data the Bioanalysis & Bioassay team on a regular basis
Minimum Requirements
Must be pursuing a PhD degree in Biology, Molecular Biology or Life Sciences
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
Prior internship, work, or volunteer/extracurricular experience
Proficient with MS Office Suite and ability to learn new technologies quickly
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Available to work full-time during the summer months (May-August)
Proactive and solution-driven mindset
Strong sense of accountability and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Flexible and willing to support a variety of tasks for the (department) team
Preferred some cell culture, western blotting and ELISA experience
