What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Guard - Part Time position at ASM Global-SMG?
SUMMARY
ASM GLOBAL, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Full-Time Security Guard at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. This Security position is responsible in the day-to-day functions of securing, directing, and promoting security and safety in the facility. This position also includes providing direction, safety, and security for all event related activities as required. The Security Guard is required to perform the following essential functions during a normal workday:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate and monitor computerized surveillance camera systems and fire alarm systems as required.
- Complete detailed reports on activity during shift and maintains daily log of activities.
- Maintain constant radio communication with Control
- Assist in the control of patrons that visit the facility.
- Ensure crowd control stays at a reasonable level and assist in conflicts as needed.
- Responds to emergency situations, complete incident reports, initiate AED/CPR/First Aid until EMS arrives
- Conduct routine property walks around the building (25 million sq ft) that will include:
- Patrol Service Corridors, Parking Lots, grounds, loading docks, offices, rental, and administrative spaces including event halls, meeting rooms and employee break rooms
- Patrol Mechanical and electrical rooms to assure doors are locked
- Patrol Event Halls and Pre-function Areas
- Control flow of truck traffic during move in and move out on docks
- Perform routine patrols inside and outside perimeter rounds every ½ hour,
- Restrict access to nonevent personnel or employees
- Direct people and trucks to relevant event places
- Locks and unlocks facility doors.
- Be knowledgeable about locations throughout the facility.
- Be courteous and helpful.
- All other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High school diploma/equivalent preferred.
6 months to 1 year security experience, preferably in a similar environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess good verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to conduct walking patrols and stand on feet for long periods of time.
- Must be able to operate and use two-way radios.
- Must be able to follow instructions with attention to detail.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Minimal land travel may be required
- Must be able to work flexible shift/schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Candidate will be required to join Laborers Local Union #1058 upon completion of 90-day probation.
- Union membership, fees and dues are required upon successful completion of probationary period payable by employee.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
- Frequent stair climbing, walking on uneven surfaces
- Constant Vision (Corrected or Uncorrected), and Hearing
- Constant excessive standing and sitting, walking for sustained amounts of time.
- Occasional exposure to cold/heat condition due to weather temperature changes inside and outside during perimeter tours/rounds.
- Occasional High Noise Level Exposure
- Occasional Verbal Communication (Talking)
- Occasional Exposure to airborne inhalants, dust, exhaust fumes (increases to frequent during show move ins/outs while working directing dock traffic)
- No overhead lifting, carrying, or push/pulling or reaching above head, or shoulders
