TITLE: PART-TIME FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF DEPARTMENT: EVENT SERVICES REPORTS TO: SHOW MANAGER ABOUT DEVOS PLACE CONVENTION CENTER: Built in 2004 on the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids, MI, is a multi-purpose convention center. This structure features a 162,000-square-foot column-free exhibit hall, 40,000-square-foot ballroom, and 26 individual meeting rooms. Twelve spacious loading docks allow for easy access into the exhibit hall. The convention center is owned by the Grand Rapids-Kent Count Convention/Arena Authority and managed by ASM Global. ABOUT DEVOS PERFORMANCE HALL: Located inside Grand Rapids' convention center, DeVos Place, DeVos Performance Hall is a 2,543-seat performing arts theater featuring performances by all four Grand Rapids arts groups including The Grand Rapids Symphony, The Grand Rapids Ballet, Broadway Grand Rapids and Opera Grand Rapids. DeVos Performance Hall provides an intimate setting for these Grand Rapids arts groups as well as other touring concerts and family shows. DeVos Performance Hall has hosted concerts including B.B. King, James Taylor, John Mellencamp, Harry Connick Jr., Aretha Franklin and Alice Cooper; comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld, Dave Chappelle, Aziz Ansari, Hasan Minhaj and Chelsea Handler; and family shows including Peppa Pig Live, Wild Kratts Live, Sesame Street Live and Daniel Tiger Live.The lobby of DeVos Performance Hall includes a beautiful terrazzo floor, newly renovated restrooms and enhanced colored accent lighting. ROLE SUMMARY: As Front of House Staff with ASM Global at DeVos Performance Hall and DeVos Place, you have the opportunity to train and work in several Front of House positions -- Usher, Ticket Taker, Badge Check, Coat Check, and Guest Services. You will work a variety of events, from concerts in the Performance Hall to conventions at DeVos Place. SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS/ACTIVITIES As a Front of House Staff Member, you will promote positive guest/client experiences from beginning to end of each event. Attend Usher Meeting before each event to attain information on your duties for the day/night Check event space prior to opening to ensure cleanliness Welcome guests to the space with a smile and friendly demeanor Answer any questions or concerns from the patron and alert Supervisor of any issues Maintain a professional manner, presence, and appearance while on premises/duty QUALIFICATIONS Previous customer service experience preferred Strong communication and problem solving skills Ability to work with large crowds Must be able to tolerate and work in a fast-paced environment General computer and email proficiency are required Must be comfortable standing for long periods and be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
