Summary

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Director of Engineering & Operations for ASM Global / Caesars Superdome | Smoothie King Center | Champions Square. Responsible for directing all engineering and building operations for 75,000 and 18,000 seat entertainment, sports, and convention facilities as well as a 200,000 square foot outdoor entertainment venue.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Direct all aspects and personnel of engineering, operations and housekeeping including facility repair and maintenance, housekeeping, grounds maintenance, staging, setups and changeovers in compliance with ADA regulations and ASM Best Practices

Create strategies for effective event planning and execution

Prepare the engineering and operations annual operating budget for review with Director of Finance

Prepare the five-year and ten-year capital improvement budget relative to facility improvements and long-range repairs for review with General Manager / AGM and Director of Finance

Insure electrical, mechanical, structural, environmental control and related systems for the facilities are well maintained and that appropriate annual inspections have been conducted and documented

Assist with union negotiations and union business as necessary

Department liaison with building owners (LSED), tenants and facility contractors

Ensure that the ASM Maintenance Report Program (ALTUM) is current, including preventative maintenance and work orders in accordance with accepted facility maintenance standards

Procure services, repairs and supply transactions through both bid and negotiated processes

Coordinate and oversee special projects, such as construction, remodeling or expansion

Plan and direct outside vendors / contractors to assure compliance with project contracts and safety requirements

Liaison to public utility, environmental and energy agencies

Ensure the coordination of the engineering and operations activities with event services and other departments to ensure facility readiness and proper operation of events

Authorize the requisition of equipment and supplies within budget guidelines

Understand and ensure all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules / regulations and emergency procedures are followed and develop programs to ensure training for employees as needed

Approve departmental new hires and ensure proper training has been conducted relative to OSHA requirements and ASM Best Practices

Oversee safety and risk management, including all rules and regulations, staff training, fire / life safety and emergency procedures

Prepare reports on assigned maintenance operations and activities as needed

Authorize and approve event and operational staffing requirements

Provide yearly inventory of all equipment

Investigate, analyze and resolve engineering and operational problems and complaints

Conduct weekly staff meetings with direct reports to discuss events, procedures, problems and policy changes

Review contracts for compliance with events and / or government specifications and suitability for occupancy

Coordination on event capacities and floor plans with the appropriate jurisdictions having authority (JHA) including but not limited to the New Orleans Fire Department and Louisiana State Fire Marshal

Ensure that the facilities meet the standards set forth by the NFL, NBA, and NCAA / CFP as appropriate

Analyze utility consumption and develop conservation strategies to minimize consumption and costs

Assist the General Manager / AGM to promote energy efficiency and energy savings

Serve as Director on Duty (DOD) at events as assigned

Other duties as assigned

Must successfully pass a criminal background check

Must have strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Procure)

Strong technical background including but not limited to electrical, HVAC, and plumbing preferred

Ability to make executive decisions and solve problems, obtain and process information, plan and organize work, analyze quantitative data

Strong efficient and effective communication skills across all levels of facility management

Exceptional organizational skills

Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Education and / or Experience

College degree in a related field

8-10 years Facility Management highly desirable
