Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maximizing rental of the facilities by broadening and diversifying the client base through an aggressive sales approach, targeting convention and corporate programs and special events.
  • Assist all facilities on corporate, convention, and special event sales and marketing.
  • Maintain existing client relationships and renew contracts for trade shows.
  • Conduct site inspections of facilities, submit proposals, rental quotes, and negotiate sales & contracts.
  • Interact with Event Services and Operations staff on the overall scope of client’s program in the preliminary stages.
  • Develop all sales materials related to corporate / convention / special event sales.
  • Form and maintain a lead system / existing client database.
  • Act as a liaison with in-house catering company and clients on budget & menu selection.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with convention sales managers, local hotels, destination management companies, Fortune 500 corporate entities, and corporate meeting planners.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise all employees in the Sales Department.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Education and / or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in the field of convention, hotel, trade show, or meeting room sales; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the principles, practices, and terminology of public relations programs, advertising, marketing, sales presentations, and public speaking.
  • Write memos, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standards exist.
  • Work with the Marketing Department to assist in responses to the media during crisis situations in a prompt, decisive, and credible manner according to corporate and management policy.
  • Operate a personal computer using current operating systems, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related standard office equipment.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines, working effectively under pressure and producing accurate results.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
