What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Laser System Scientist position at ASML US, LLC?
ASML US brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world's leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.
Job Mission
We are presenting you with a unique and exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative Source Research team, focused on conceiving and demonstrating the technologies required for next generations of high-power extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light sources. Based on a laser produced plasma (LPP), our light source relies on a wide range of unique and challenging technologies, ranging from laser light amplification and high-power optical systems to laser produced plasma for EUV generation, electro-optical signal detection and algorithm-based actuation for process control. You are invited to bring your passion, knowledge and expertise in areas of applied physics, plasmas, metrology, optics, controls, lasers, and experiment design to push the boundaries of these technologies forward.
Duties and responsibilities :
Identifies gaps in source solutions and technology roadmaps and proposes extensions / re-orientations of these roadmaps. Demonstrates technology solutions through feasibility studies and proof of concepts to extend ASML's roadmaps. Supports the development of technology solutions where applicable in the lab. Shapes (directs the course of) and oversees (supervises, watches over and directs) several new technology competences, creates inventions, transfers results to development operation after building proof of concept.
Creates the long-term vision and business / value proposition of multiple research topics and steers the strategic activities related to that vision within and outside of Research. Ensures coherence and alignment across research projects / programs in responsible topic area.
Research scope
Owns and drives complex technical topics on different organization levels and across different systems (or comparable complexity). Gives direction to the (technical) organization on complex technology topics. Optimizes the application of the existing body of knowledge to address new challenges / create novel solutions that provide competitive advantage.
Drives patent portfolio and technology roadmaps and is widely recognized for competence expertise.
Supports the shaping of the strategic academic network related to competence development.
Technical leadership
Technically shapes and drives multiple multidisciplinary projects, work packages or technical competences on the module level, mono-discipline level, system level or comparable level of complexity. Creates technical budgets and definitions
