The successful candidate will be responsible for competency development, shaping the way the team develops electrical systems, and developing required expertise to meet current and future needs. This includes identifying training and hiring targets to meeting competency needs, developing hiring strategy, reviewing resumes, interviewing candidates to fill competency gaps in the team, and allocating staff to projects to support project and program deliverables. Additionally, the individual will participate in program level planning based on availability of staff and competency, manage risks and customer requirements, identify technical and quality risks based on input from architects and design engineers, and develop long term strategy to reduce technical and quality risks. Furthermore, strong communication skills are essential, including holding regular meetings to provide information to the team and maintaining a transparent organization, communicating status and issues to direct and higher level management through formal and informal channels, escalating issues when appropriate, and providing coaching to individuals and groups. Individual management is also crucial, setting example for the team of proper work ethic, technical knowledge, and interpersonal skills, identifying individual performance issues and developing corrective actions, and having ability to break down complex problems with limited data to come to solutions - strong critical thinking capability.
