Job Description
Responsible for the safety and well-being of Aquatic Center patrons and employees. Supervises on-duty cashier, life guards, and may oversee available part-time maintenance and custodial staff members. Works to prevent emergencies by enforcing facility and district policies and procedures. Responds immediately to emergencies and administer CPR, AR, and first aid as necessary. Attends required training sessions. Maintains pool chemical levels, water clarity, and cleanliness. Verifies and provides initial cashier reconciliation functions. Compiles daily operational reports.
Position required Red Cross Lifeguard certification; if not previously qualified, training will be provided during initial training with the expectation of earning certificate during that timeframe
Attendance is essential for success in this position.
· Must be 18 years of age or older.
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test.
· Obtain Red Cross Lifeguard Certification* within 60 days of hire.
· Knowledge of computer programs, such as Excel, Word, and Outlook and software for maintenance systems, operational reports, and staff records.
· Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
· Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
· Must be able to write, speak, and read English.
· Availability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
· Capability to perform math calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
· Maintains the safety of patrons and employees and prevent aquatic emergencies.
· Enforces facility, district, and Red Cross rules, regulations, and requirements.
· Supervises 3-20 on-duty lifeguards in natatorium and waterpark as well as cashier staff.
· Opens/closes the facility as required including properly securing the facility.
· Conducts and balance water chemistry throughout shifts making adjustments as needed.
· Records current daily operational events as well as other essential paperwork.
· Presents a professional image and ensures staff does the same.
· Operates point-of-sale functions, ensures cashiers apply proper cash handling procedures.
· Completes required cash handling functions at opening and closing of shifts/facility.
· Attends scheduled in-service trainings to maintain Red Cross certifications..
· Clean restrooms, pool deck, fitness center, and other areas of the facility as assigned
· Performs daily equipment checks to ensure functionality.
· Oversees operations of assigned specialty areas and report to supervisor on all aspects.
· Provides customer service and support to facility patrons.
· Complete Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor certifications within one year.
· Manages issues through conflict resolution as well as upholds sensitive information.
· All additional duties as assigned by the Aquatics Manager

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and listen. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl to operate in small and confined spaces. Must be able to operate hand and power tools. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions.
· Swim 150 yds.
o Swim continuously using only front crawl or breaststroke, keeping your face in the water and demonstrating good breath control.
o Move directly into treading water for two minutes without using hands
o Finish final 50 yds using front crawl or breaststroke
· Brick retrieval.
o Swim 15 yds, dive to retrieve 10-pound brick,
o Return to surface with the brick
o Return brick to starting position on your back maintaining both hands on brick.

Pay: $49,795.00 - $53,340.00 per year
