About the Role
The ASPCA's Recovery & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Services Director to lead our veterinary program. This role requires a veterinarian with strong leadership capabilities, excellent clinical skills, and a passion for animal welfare.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of building the R&R Centers veterinary services program, making high-level decisions regarding the veterinary teams policies, operations, and strategic resource allocation
- Develop and implement a robust onboarding package for new hires, ensuring continuity of care and promoting a culture of innovation
- Stay abreast of shelter medicine best practices and trends, applying new knowledge to R&R Centers practices when appropriate
- Promote a culture of low-stress handling and collaboration among team members, fostering open communication and respect for diverse perspectives
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited veterinary college, be licensed or license eligible to practice veterinary medicine in the state of New York, and have at least 5 years of small animal veterinary experience.
- Minimum of 3 years shelter medicine experience, including working directly on both individual animal and population level concerns required
- Minimum of 3 years experience managing a team of veterinary staff, including veterinarians required
