Job Summary
We are looking for strong med techs who are driven and reliable and want advancement to a supervisory role. We offer fast paced advancement for those who are willing to demonstrate strong caregiving skills, reliability, and responsibility.
Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience as caregiver/direct service for seniors
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Senior Living experience highly desired
- Med-tech experience desired
- TB test and FirstAid/CPR desire
- Has reliable transportation
- Flexibility (i.e. can work weekends and different shifts)
- Must have a high school degree or equivalent (i.e. GED)
- Able to provide two positive moral character references
Note: Knowledge of dementia particularly of the Alzheimer's type is helpful
*Responsibilities and Duties
As a universal caregiver, responsibilities at a high level include caregiving, cleaning, conducting activities with residents, serving food, and potentially supporting meal preparation when necessary. The following outlines some of these tasks:
- Assist the residents with dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, bathing, eating, and toilet-ing by encouraging the residents to do as much for themselves as possible.
- Initiates and assists residents with various activities while maintaining a structured, calm, and safe environment. For example, Initiates and participates in leisure activities provided for residents as described in the activity calendar. Encourages residents to socialize and participate in planned activities or programs and to develop friendships with other residents.
- Maintains residents' records daily in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy and procedures. This includes documentation related to: medication distribution as applicable; leisure activities; incidents and observations; reporting any changes in resident's physical condition and/or behavior; visitors; etc. Observes and reports the health and emotional condition of each resident, and promptly reports all changes to the supervisor.
- Works cooperatively to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the residents. Performs housekeeping for resident rooms and community; such as room and common area cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, and picking up items that are out of place.
- Serve meals to residents. Encourages residents to eat a proper diet and take adequate fluids while respecting the resident's right to free choice. Records and reports changes in resident's eating habits to the supervisor. May occasionally support meal preparation in cases where cook is unavailable/sick.
- May assist residents with medication as defined in medication procedure. Assists or supervises residents who self-administer medication. Follows physician orders and state laws to administer medications to residents who cannot self-administer their medications. Exhibits understanding of and follows medication policies and procedures.
- Maintain resident rights and confidentiality.
- Promote and contribute new ideas throughout the home. Volunteer and participate in continuous quality improvement projects while promoting a team philosophy throughout the organization.
- Follow Universal Precautions and Infection Control techniques.
- Maintain professionalism in dress and behavior during daily interactions with residents and family, representing the organization in a positive manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
