Salary
The wage rate for this position will include a salary range of $60,000-$80,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
This is a full-time position with health, dental, vision, disability insurance, retirement plan offerings and the potential for housing support.
Essential Functions
Sixth through Eighth Grades are part of the Middle School at Aspen Country Day School, operating under the leadership of the Middle School division head. Students follow a schedule designed with the unique needs of middle schoolers in mind, creating bonds with dedicated instructors specializing in various subjects. Our Humanities instructors teach one grade level and serve as advisors to a small group of middle school students. Middle school teachers embody an enthusiasm for teaching and are committed to supporting the unique needs of early adolescents, including cognitive and social-emotional development. The Humanities Department's mission is to cultivate engaged learners who understand and embrace the complexity of the human experience through close examination of literature, history, and current events. The school aims to foster curiosity and critical thinking and to teach students to communicate their discoveries verbally and in writing.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have an educational background in Humanities (English, Language Arts, and/or History) and experience teaching Humanities classes in the intermediate/middle grades. Minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s degree in a Humanities field from an accredited university or college and a commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion curriculum and goals. Social-emotional learning is an integral part of middle school. Teachers serve as advisors to a group of students, building positive relationships with students (and their families) and fostering a sense of belonging through the advisory program curriculum.
Learning at Aspen Country Day School is not limited to the classroom. The school’s outdoor education program and interdisciplinary arts curriculum are hallmarks of the student experience. Candidates will be expected to share in the day-to-day life of the ACDS middle school community.
Expectations
This is a full-time position that begins mid-August 2025. The standard schedule is 7:45 am to 3:45pm, with a weekly faculty meeting until 4:30, although team planning meetings may require additional time. Additionally, all faculty members share daily supervision duties at the school. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are required throughout the school year.
