What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts & Service Writer / Inventory Control position at Aspen Custom Trailers Inc.?
The Parts & Service Writer / Inventory Control reports to the Parts Supervisor. The primary responsibilities of this person will be to write parts and service estimates/orders and handle inventory storage, distribution and organization for the entire Product Support facility.
Responsibilities
Input estimate and order details for parts and service orders.
Communicate progress, change and completion of repair to the customer.
Assist when needed for part sales department.
Perform all Shipper / Receiver / Inventory Coordinator tasks.
Picking inventory based on Order requirements. (able to lift up to 50lbs)
Delivering kits and materials to appropriate workstations as requested.
Loading and unloading products on/off trailers.
Keep Yard area & warehouse clean and organized.
Process material transactions in ERP.
Participate in Full Inventory and cycle counts.
Physical parts receiving and restocking shelves. (able to lift up to 50lbs)
Shipping goods to customers. (filling out proper documents, packaging)
Create and schedule work orders for service department.
Assist in buying requirements for local vendors.
Warranty and Policy administration.
Update accounts, initiate billing and receive payment for services.
Prepare invoices for completed parts and service orders.
Follows all of Aspen’s safe work practices and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Forklift and Loader operation.

Basic accounting skills and knowledge of electronic payment systems.
Qualifications
Excellent customer service skills.
Preference given to persons with forklift & loader experience.
Experience in inventory with a ERP or database system an asset (preferably Visual Manufacturing).
Experience with Supply Chain and Accounting processes an asset.
Experience in Manufacturing Industry an asset.
Experience working with steel an asset.
Basic accounting skills and knowledge of electronic payment systems.
Working Conditions
Working indoors in a temperature controlled well maintained facility most of the time.
Regular exposure to industrial shop hazards which require additional protection from noise, fall hazards and air quality. Safety boots must be worn.
A medium stress environment due to timelines.
Physical Requirements
Physically fit with maximum 50 lbs (overhead crane use over 50 lbs).
Standing on your feet for a long period of time.
Sitting, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
Shift Availability
Day Shift (Monday to Friday, 7:00 am-4:00 pm).
Overtime available, ability to work longer hours when needed .
