Your Role
As an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, you will perform daily duties to create lasting impressions and build trust and loyalty with patients.
- Assist the DA office team throughout the day to maintain productive patient flow
- Support doctors during treatment procedures
- Prepare operatory rooms for doctors and hygienists
- Complete sterilization processes for equipment and operatory
- Follow maintenance schedules for flushing waterlines/suction lines and other essential tasks
- Tray and operatory set-up for all procedures
- Support patient charting for doctors at a proficient level
- Train others to execute patient handoffs and monitor patient flow
- Follow OSHA regulations and Aspen safety requirements
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays)
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following dental treatment
- Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies
- Complete denture soft relines and manufactures temporary crowns
- Monitor laboratory cases
- Perform quality intraoral health scans
- Take quality impressions and bite registrations
- Perform additional expanded functions based on certification(s)
- Maintain emergency kits and oxygen tanks
- Order and manage supplies
Requirements
- Dental Assistant License, Registration, Certification as required by state
- Radiology (x-ray) certification as required by state
- CPR or BLS certificate
- 2 years' experience as a Dental Assistant
- Proficient chairside assisting/four-handed dentistry
- Demonstrate and provide instruction on proper sterilization and infection control techniques
- Maintain and update annual CE requirement as specified by state
