About the Role:
As an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating lasting impressions with our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting doctors during treatment procedures, maintaining patient flow, and ensuring all staff is properly trained on sterilization processes.
- Assist the DA office team in managing daily duties to maintain productive patient flow.
- Support doctors during various treatment procedures.
- Break down operatory rooms for doctors and hygienists.
- Complete sterilization processes for equipment and operatory, ensuring all staff is properly trained and compliant.
- Follow maintenance schedules for flushing waterlines/suction lines, autoclave, and compressor.
- Tray and operatory set-up for all procedures.
- Support patient charting for doctors at a proficient level.
- Ability to train others to execute patient handoffs and monitor patient flow within the practice.
- Follow OSHA regulations and Aspen safety requirements, including compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays).
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following treatment procedures.
- Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies.
- Complete denture soft relines and manufacture temporary crowns.
- Monitor and aid in management of laboratory cases.
- Perform quality intraoral health scan of patients under 5 minutes.
- Understanding of clear aligner process and ability to articulate and teach.
- Ability to take quality impressions and bite registrations.
- Perform additional expanded functions based on certification(s) to support patient care.
- Ensure emergency kits and oxygen tanks are maintained.
- Ability to order and maintain supplies according to practice needs.
- Perform various office tasks as necessary.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Current Dental Assistant License, Registration, Certification as required by state.
- Radiology (x-ray) certification as required by state.
- Current CPR or BLS certificate.
- 2 years' experience as a Dental Assistant.
- Proficient at chairside assisting/four-handed dentistry.
- Demonstrate and provide instruction on proper sterilization and infection control techniques.
- Maintain and update annual CE requirement as specified by state.
- State Certification in expanded functions as required by state.
