Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Strategic business partner to Aspen Grove operations leadership to support financial planning, accounting and reporting needs to achieve business objectives.
- Manage the Aspen Grove joint accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team for Aspen Grove Landscaping Companies and its subsidiaries. Collectively, this structure serves as the primary “bridge” between Aspen Grove and it’s parent company’s (Asplundh Tree Expert LLC) Corporate Controller and FP&A functions, supporting ongoing accounting, reporting and analysis, and financial planning needs as well as discrete field-related project deployment and process & technology enhancements.
- Oversight of activities related to the month-end financial close and reporting processes including revenue recognition and WIP, cost accounting and allocations, management reporting, and forecasting to ensure completed timely and at a high level of accuracy. Work with parent company FP&A team and Aspen Grove SVP to ensure management reporting and analysis meets the needs of Aspen Grove field operations and parent company finance function.
- Primary point of contact for issues/questions raised by field management and administrative staff for financial systems-related questions.
- Responsible for all budgeting processes. Partners with SVP and company leaders to develop achievable budgets within targeted guidelines. Work with SVP and parent company FP&A team to ensure budget process meets needs of parent company and field operations. Ensure budgets are entered into the appropriate ERP systems.
- Subject matter expert with regards to rolling out and implementing/maintaining new systems, such as Aspire or a new ERP. Proactively searches for and shares best practices and develops implementation and maintenance strategies.
- Review and approve journal entries prepared by the Aspen Grove accounting team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA is a plus
- 5 or more years of finance and accounting experience (2 or more years in a supervisory role)
- Preferred – Experience working directly with decentralized field operations.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and formulas for data compilation and analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems, PeopleSoft and Aspire preferred.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt to audiences with varying levels of financial sophistication.
- Demonstrated ability to execute/drive a project plan to completion, including influencing others and effectively managing their team and others through change. Able to work a flexible schedule as needed. Ability to work overtime as required during peak periods.
- A leader who promotes teamwork and collaboration and effectively delegates.
- Ability to develop a vision of “what could be”, not just focused on “what is/has been”
- Prior landscape experience is a plus
- Travel may be required, up to 50%
