Job Title: Respiratory Care Therapist
Location: Moses Lake, WA

Introduction:  Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Veteran Respiratory Care Therapists to partner with Samaritan Healthcare in providing contracted medical services throughout medical treatment facilities within the United States. Today’s posting will place you at the primary location of the Samaritan Healthcare Facility in Mosses Lake, WA. Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing specialized respiratory assessment and care commensurate with training, experience and competence to patients with respiratory disorders.  Respiratory Care Therapists recommend treatment plans and implement care as directed by the patient's attending physician and hospital protocol.  Respiratory Care Therapists may be assigned other tasks for which they have special training and/or background experience, in order to maximize team efficiency and economy. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of Respiratory Care along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:
  • Graduate of AMA accredited two (2) year Respiratory Care Practitioner education program (or equivalent criteria for state regulatory requirements)
License:
  • CRT, RRT eligible, or RRT credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), and State of Washington Respiratory Care Practitioner Certification/License
Certification
  • Current ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications. Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within 30 days of hire
Experience:
  • Two (2) years postgraduate acute care respiratory care experience preferred
Skills/Competencies:
  • Demonstrates competency on equipment listed on department specific checklist
  • Critical thinking skills: Seeks resources for direction, when necessary. Performs independent problem solving. Decision-making is logical and deliberate
  • Performs actions that demonstrate accountability. Exercises safe judgment in decision-making. Practices within legal and ethical guidelines
  • Demonstrates competency in ability to care for customers/patients across the age continuum

Essential Functions:
  1. Assesses respiratory patient in order to determine physical and emotional care needs and capabilities.
  2. Makes adjustments to inpatient care regimen to assure individualized effectiveness according to the patient's needs and capabilities, through use of protocols or physician contact, as necessary, to assure appropriateness of care.
  3. Educates patient and/or caregivers to provide understanding of physiologic processes affecting their condition, the lifestyle modifications necessary to maximize health, the appropriate use of equipment and medication utilized in their care.
  4. Works in conjunction with physician to provide respiratory consultation to assure implementation of appropriate and effective care orders and protocols, and to obtain meaningful diagnostic information.
  5. Reports all adverse effects to include signs and symptoms of respiratory dysfunction from therapies and medications given.
  6. Ensures 50% attendance on an annual basis at the regularly scheduled staff meetings. 
  7. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  8. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies.  This includes, but is not limited to:  security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
  9. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
  10. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
  11. Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
  12. Ensures that additional accountabilities as may be required by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.

Physical Requirements:
  1. Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
  2. Must be able to maneuver patients on table in order to obtain proper images.
  3. Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  4. Good reading eyesight.
  5. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
