What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scenic Carpenter - Aspen Opera Theater & VocalARTS position at Aspen Music Festival?
The Scenic Carpenter works under the supervision of the Aspen Opera Theatre & VocalARTS (AOTVA) Production Manager to assist in the building, installation, and running of theatrical scenery. The AOTVA program is under the co-artistic direction of Rene Fleming and Patrick Summers at the Aspen Music Festival & School (AMFS). The upcoming season will utilize the AMFS orchestras, the 2,050 seat Klein Music Tent, and Historic Wheeler Opera House throughout an encompassing 8-week summer season. This season's mainstage productions will be Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte and Puccini's La Boheme.
Responsibilities
- Construct scenery as assigned according to shop drawings while utilizing time, materials and tools in the most efficient manner.
- Participate in the load-in, running, and strike of AOTVA productions.
- Maintain and organize shop equipment and tools.
- Adhere to the highest safety standards for the job site, the operation of tools and the operation of scenic pieces and theatrical equipment.

Compensation
15.50 / hour plus housing provided by AMFS (valued at a minimum of $4.91 / hour depending on location.) Overtime $23.25 / hour
Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
