Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager of Energy Analytics & Optimization of Asset Management, the intern will support the monitoring and operations of solar assets, contributing to the company’s mission of advancing sustainable energy solutions. The intern will also be responsible for enhancing our internal database and analytics tool by verifying data inputs and outputs, developing analytical dashboards, and refining calculation methodologies to bolster the tool's efficacy and reliability. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic and rapidly growing solar energy sector. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong drive for renewable energy, the ability to manage high-volume daily operational tasks efficiently, and the initiative to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility.
This is a 10-week internship program (approximately June 9 – August 15, 2025), approximately 25–30 hours/week with the opportunity to transition to full-time employment upon successful completion.
Responsibilities:
Daily Operations of Assigned Portfolios: Monitor and analyze the technical performance of solar assets to meet established performance benchmarks.
Maintenance Management: Coordinate and oversee routine maintenance, as well as reactive repair activities, to minimize downtime and ensure consistent asset performance
Data Analysis and Reporting: Use performance monitoring systems and analytical tools to track operational efficiency and prepared detailed performance reports for stakeholders.
Data Verification and Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data by systemically verifying data inputs and outputs within the system
Analytical Dashboard Development: Design, build, and maintain user-friendly analytical dashboards that translate complex data into actional insights.
Calculation Methodology Refinement: Review and enhance existing calculation methodologies to improve analytical accuracy and optimize overall tool performance
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, providing key insights and updates on asset management activities
Qualifications:
Education: Applicants from relevant academic backgrounds or with equivalent practical experience are encouraged to apply. are strongly preferred. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, sustainability, renewable Energy, data analytics/science, operations management or relevant disciplines preferred but not required.
Passion for Renewable Energy: Enthusiastic about the renewable energy sector, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company. Prior experience or a background in renewable energy is a plus.
Technical Proficiency. Strong proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, with a solid understanding of data analysis. Familiarity with Python is a plus.
Analytical & Problem Solving Skills: Ability to assess complex data, manage competing deadlines across multiple portfolios, and provide strategic insights.
Attention to Detail & Organization: Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-up and organization skills; capable of processing large volumes of information and summarizing points for decision-making.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ensuring effective collaboration across teams and with external stakeholders.
Independent & Proactive Work Ethic: Self-motivated and capable of working independently with periodic guidance while demonstrating initiative and accountability.
Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work seamlessly across departments and engage effectively with external stakeholders.
Location: NYC – onsite/hybrid
At Aspen Power, our work model includes three ways of working: virtual, in-person, and hybrid (a hybrid of in-person and virtual). On site strongly preferred.
Compensation Range: $25 per hour (undergraduate student or degree) - $45 per hour (graduate student or degree)
