Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Director of Cultivation to lead our cannabis cultivation operations. This individual will oversee both our greenhouse and indoor grow facilities, ensuring the highest standards of plant health, operational eAiciency, and compliance. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with extensive knowledge of cannabis cultivation practices, excellent managerial skills, and the ability to implement systems that optimize production.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the greenhouse and farm, ensuring optimal performance and productivity.
- Manage staff, providing guidance and support to enhance team effectiveness.
- Maintain equipment and facilities, performing repairs as necessary to minimize downtime.
- Implement best practices for greenhouse management, including plant care and environmental controls.
- Conduct regular inspections of the farm and greenhouse to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Coordinate logistics for the movement of materials and products, including the operation of forklifts as needed.
- Utilize basic math skills for inventory management and resource allocation.
- Engage in heavy lifting tasks as required for operational needs.
- Foster relationships with stakeholders, including suppliers and community partners.
Requirements
- Oversee day-to-day operations of greenhouse and indoor cultivation facilities.
- Manage and mentor cultivation teams, ensuring clear communication and high performance.
- Develop and enforce cultivation SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and protocols.
- Monitor labor eAiciency and resource allocation to meet production goals.
- Ensure optimal plant health through monitoring and maintaining irrigation systems, pH levels, and nutrient regimens.
- Oversee pest and disease management, implementing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
- Plan and manage crop cycles, ensuring consistency in quality and yield.
- Perform data analysis to optimize growing conditions and outputs.
- Maintain cultivation equipment and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
- Implement and manage environmental controls to optimize temperature, humidity, and lighting.
- Oversee facility cleanliness and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Ensure all activities comply with state regulations, particularly regarding tracking and reporting via Metrc.
- Maintain thorough records of plant counts, movement, and waste per regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase yields, improve quality, and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with leadership to forecast production and meet market demands.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Science, or related field (required).
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a cannabis cultivation facility (required).
- Proven experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in using Metrc for compliance and reporting.
- Strong understanding of cannabis plant biology, nutrient requirements, and environmental controls.
- Experience with irrigation systems and pH level monitoring.
- Knowledge of pest and disease prevention and remediation techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with advanced cultivation techniques such as tissue culture or aeroponics.
- Experience with automation systems for climate control, lighting, and irrigation.
- Knowledge of data-driven cultivation tools and software.
