Asphalt Express specializes in bulk liquid transport, including asphalt, fuel oil, carbon black oil, spent lube and crude oil that is serviced through our truck fleet as well as our rail car and tank farm terminals here in Ardmore, OK. Our goal is to find a motivated person that is willing and able to perform HR & Safety Manager duties Monday - Friday. This person will be in the office Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. The Safety Manager portion requires you to be on-call in the event of an accident or incident that may occur after business hours. This is a salary position starting at $55,000 per year but salary range is dependent on experience.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team. This role is essential in fostering a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. The Human Resources Manager will oversee various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, training development, and health and safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of workers' compensation law, OSHA regulations, and environmental health and safety (EHS) practices.
Duties
- Develop and implement HR and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Manage the recruitment process by sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and facilitating on-boarding.
- Oversee employee relations by addressing concerns, mediating conflicts, and promoting a positive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with workers' compensation laws and manage claims effectively.
- Collaborate with management to identify training needs and develop training programs for employee development.
- Conduct root cause analysis for workplace incidents to improve safety measures.
- Maintain accurate records related to employee performance, training, and compliance with OSHA standards.
- Maintain accurate records of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
- Maintaining driver compliance with refineries.
- Ensuring the company stays compliant with all local, state, and federal laws.
- Acting as a back-up to the Safety Director.
- Provide safety oversight for our office, shop, tank farm, and rail yard facility.
- Perform monthly safety inspections for all of our facilities.
- Assisting with DOT/FMCSA compliance.
Experience
- Preferred experience in the Trucking Industry.
- Proven experience in a Human Resources management role or similar position.
- Strong understanding of workers' compensation law, OSHA regulations, EPA standards, and EHS practices.
- Experience in training development and implementation.
- Proficient in report writing with the ability to analyze data effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Strong knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and employment law.
- Exceptional organizational design skills to optimize workforce structure.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership effectively.
- Preferred experience of 2 years minimum.
- Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to multitask, self-motivate, prioritize importance of tasks given.
- Must live within reasonable driving distance of Ardmore, OK or relocate prior to beginning work.
- Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with customers, vendors, employees, and contractors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Work, and Outlook.
- Able to pass a background check (No current or open criminal cases).
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while following instructions from supervisors.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail preferred.
- Experience working with transportation management systems.
- Familiarity with phone systems and ability to handle high call volumes with professionalism.
- Strong knowledge of transportation management principles and practices.
- Excellent data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Understanding of transportation industry laws and regulations.
- Strong phone etiquette and communication skills to effectively interact with drivers, customers, and team members.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to optimize operations.
