Job Description: As a Roller Operator, you will be responsible for operating rollers to ensure the smoothness and durability of paved surfaces. You will work closely with the paving crew to achieve the required density and finish by adhering to the proper rolling patterns and techniques. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, able to monitor results in real-time, and adjust the process for optimal outcomes. Precision is key, and your focus on detail will be crucial for the success of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate roller equipment to compact paved surfaces to the required specifications.
- Apply the correct rolling patterns to achieve the desired density and smooth finish.
- Monitor the compaction process to ensure consistency and quality of the surface.
- Continuously assess and adjust the rolling procedure based on observations and material conditions.
- Communicate effectively with the paving crew to coordinate work and ensure proper sequencing.
- Inspect equipment before, during, and after use to ensure it is operating correctly and efficiently.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety protocols and reporting hazards immediately.
- Ensure that all work is completed on time and meets project standards.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Roller Operator in a paving or construction environment.
- Deep knowledge of rolling patterns and compaction techniques.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make quick adjustments based on surface conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure precise results.
- Good communication skills to collaborate with the team and supervisors.
- Ability to operate and maintain roller equipment safely and efficiently.
- Familiarity with construction safety standards and best practices.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
