Asphalt Specialties Co., Inc, a leading, family-owned heavy highway contractor and asphalt and aggregate materials producer, along the northern front range of Colorado and Wyoming has the position of Quarry/Crushing Operations Manager for the company’s granite rock quarry 20 minutes west of Cheyenne, WY open.
Summary
Position is responsible for the daily operation of a 500k ton/year and growing granite rock quarry. Must be well versed in all aspects of mining and crushing including mine layout, dewatering, excavation, crushing and washing equipment and reclamation of sites. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing demands. Excellent opportunity in leading in the development and long term success of the quarry. This is a greenfield quarry, opened three years ago, with over 40 year life.
Responsibilities
- Managing a workforce of 10-15 employees.
- Hiring and training employees.
- Maintaining and upkeep and safe operation of all crushing equipment.
- Coordinating and assisting with service shop to maintain all rolling stock, including loaders, excavators, haul trucks, etc.
- Complying with all relevant regulations, including MSHA, Wyo DEQ, and local state and federal.
- Safe operation of all employees and overall site safety.
- Laying out and overseeing drilling patterns. Coordinating with blasting subcontractor.
- Meeting production goals of materials and ensuring quality products.
- Assist in development of the mine site and capital expenditures.
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in aggregate or rock mining.
- Three years of managing operations.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Strong cost controls and lean manufacturing practices.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office products.
Valid Driver’s License and Drug Screen required.
