What We Are Looking For


We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Functional Test Engineer with a strong focus on correspondence testing to join our dynamic Quality Assurance team. This role will play a key part in ensuring that all correspondence-related validations and communications meet our high standards for accuracy, compliance, and functionality. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of testing methodologies, excellent communication skills, and experience working with various correspondence formats (illustrations, New Business Forms, Policy Contract) in a testing environment. Knowledge of the insurance domain is a strong advantage, as you will be working with documents and communications critical to this industry. This position will work cross-functionally with stakeholders across Aspida departments as well as with offshore development and QA. This role reports to the QA Manager and is required to be onsite 3 days a week at our Durham, NC headquarters.


What You Will Do


  • Correspondence Testing: Execute manual tests on various correspondence formats (Policy Contracts, illustrations, Statements) to ensure they meet business requirements, regulatory compliance, and formatting standards.
  • Requirements Analysis: Review business requirements, user stories, and functional specifications to understand correspondence requirements and ensure testing coverage.
  • Test Case Creation: Design and execute detailed test cases and test scripts to validate the accuracy, completeness, and correctness of correspondence documents and content.
  • Defect Identification: Identify, document, and track defects, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Regression Testing: Perform regression testing to ensure previously working features are not impacted by new changes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand the expected outputs and validate the functionality of correspondence features.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of test results, issues found, and resolutions in a clear and organized manner.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all correspondence meets the necessary legal, compliance, and accessibility standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvement by suggesting more efficient testing approaches, tools, and practices.
  • Test Automation Collaboration: Work with automation engineers to identify reusable tests and contribute to creating automated test scripts where applicable, especially for regression testing

Requirements


What We Require:


  • Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in testing, with specific experience in correspondence testing (Policy Contracts, Statements, New Business Forms, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Testing Tools: Familiarity with common testing tools, defect tracking systems (JIRA), and document management systems.
  • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in validating document content, formatting, and alignment with business requirements.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze requirements and use logical reasoning to create relevant test scenarios.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to document test results and effectively report defects.
  • Compliance Awareness: Understanding of regulatory and compliance standards relevant to correspondence
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify root causes of issues and work with developers and stakeholders to find solutions.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and business analysts.
  • Insurance Domain Knowledge: Experience in the insurance industry is an advantage, particularly in testing insurance-related correspondence (policies, claims, forms, etc.), understanding of industry regulations.


Experience with Automation Tools: Knowledge of test automation tools (e.g., Selenium) is a plus
