Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have personal experience with mental health or substance use challenges and will utilize this experience to support others on their recovery journey. This role involves providing guidance, mentorship, and support to individuals facing similar challenges, fostering a sense of hope and empowerment.

Duties

  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals in recovery, helping them navigate their personal journeys.
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist clients in managing acute situations effectively.
  • Facilitate group sessions focusing on coping strategies, motivational interviewing, and recovery skills.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Offer mentoring and guidance based on lived experiences, promoting self-advocacy and resilience.
  • Assist clients in accessing community resources, including behavioral health services and addiction counseling.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in crisis management and social work.

Experience

  • Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
  • Previous experience in crisis intervention or mental health counseling is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health systems and resources is beneficial.
  • Skills in motivational interviewing and addiction counseling are a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • A genuine passion for helping others achieve their recovery goals.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
