Job Summary:
The Teacher Assistant in Early Intervention/Early Education helps create a caring and safe school environment for the children and assists with activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment and develop positive relationships with the children and their parents. Assistants are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on childrens interests and needs under the direction of their supervisor. This is an hourly position up to 40 hours and benefits eligible.
Early Intervention Teachers Assistant Responsibilities:
· Help to maintain a fun and interactive classroom that is clean and organized.
· Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children
· Helps with snack time.
· Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.
· Ability to communicate effectively with children to ensure safety, relationships, and guidance
· Performs other related duties as requested by the teachers.
Education and Experience:
· Experience working with children ages 1-3 years old
· A High School diploma or equivalent
· Coursework in early childhood education or child development
· Must be at least 18 years of age
· Other:
a. Must be able to lift and move children up to 40 pounds
b. Valid drivers license/State ID and/or reliable transportation
c. Deemed suitable within Early Education & Care (EEC) and Background Records Check (BRC) via background check/CORI/SORI, fingerprinting
d. The position requires passing ECE101 - Child Growth and Development class at North Shore Community College to become EEC Teacher Qualified this course will be paid for by Aspire Developmental Services. This course must be enrolled in and completed by 6 months of employment with Aspire.
