Job Description
Under the direction of the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Analyst will play a key role in assessing regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with business laws, and providing guidance on company policies and procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of business law with the ability to interpret legal and regulatory frameworks that apply specifically to the insurance industry across multiple states. The ideal candidate will have experience in market conduct and/or similar regulatory compliance, corporate governance, or legal compliance, preferably within the insurance industry or another highly regulated field. Multi-state experience is strongly preferred, as regulations and compliance requirements vary significantly by jurisdiction. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Compliance, Legal, and Executive Leadership, to ensure the company operates within the required legal framework.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret business laws, regulations, and industry requirements to ensure the company remains compliant across multiple states.
- Provide regulatory guidance to internal teams, including Legal, Operations, Claims, Underwriting, and Executive Leadership, on business law matters related to insurance.
- Assess and update company policies and procedures to align with state and federal insurance regulations.
- Monitor changes in multi-state insurance laws and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and proactively addressing potential risks.
- Assist in developing and maintaining compliance documentation, including policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Compile and maintain detailed records of communications, data, and documents provided to or received from Department of Insurance.
- Support complaint management and regulatory reporting, ensuring responses align with state-specific legal and compliance requirements.
- Assist in compliance training initiatives, educating employees on state regulatory obligations and best practices.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and regulatory agencies as needed to address compliance inquiries or potential legal risks.
- Conduct internal compliance reviews and risk assessments to identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree with experience in compliance, auditing or a similar regulatory environment
- 5 years of experience in business operations, regulatory compliance, or corporate governance, preferably within the insurance industry.
- Experience handling compliance across multiple states is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of insurance regulations, consumer protection statutes, and corporate compliance frameworks.
- Experience working with regulatory bodies (e.g., state insurance departments) or handling regulatory matters for an insurance company.
- Ability to interpret and apply business regulations to real-world compliance issues, particularly within insurance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal and regulatory concepts to non-legal professionals.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail in compliance reviews and policy assessments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, including executive leadership, legal, and compliance departments.
- CPCU®, AINS®, or other insurance-related designations are a plus.
- Availability to work 8 AM - 5 PM PST is *strongly preferred.
