Who Are We?
Aspire Learning Center is an integrated Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program that provides a unique opportunity for neurodiverse and neurotypical children to learn and grow alongside each other. During our Early Childhood Program (8:00a-3:00p) we provide academic and ABA services to children from 18 months – 7 years old. During our Afternoon or “after school” program (8-5:30p), we provide services to children up to 15 years of age. Many of our clients also receive Speech Language Pathology services from one of our licensed Speech Therapists. In addition to in-center services, Aspire Learning Center offers its families home-based and community services.
What Will I Do as an Insurance Billing Specialist?
You will use specialized knowledge of medical insurance policies to communicate with insurance companies on behalf of clinical personnel and consumers. You will help consumers and insurers understand their financial obligations and expedite the collection of payments and balances. You will work with clinicians, the Business Operations Manager, and CEO to accurately transact, record and account for billings from all services provided. You will also support the other people, positions, and functions of the company as needed.
Insurance Billing Responsibilities:
- Assembles and maintains consumer records
- Reviews transcriptions and interacts with clinicians to ensure all relevant information has been recorded
- Utilizes the American Medical Association’s Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) in billing processes
- Submits insurance claims and performs and facilitates on-line and phone insurance verifications and authorizations
- Enters and verifies patient information, Explanation of Benefits (EOB), and other billing data for accuracy to prevent reimbursement delays
- Makes and fields calls from patients and insurers concerning individual and insurance coverages, charges and payments
- Ensures insurance contracts are up to date and manages carrier-recredentialing
- Reviews daily insurance EOB’s, checks and other correspondence for action
- Manages patient appointment, cancellation, no-show, and payment rates
- Manages Electronic Health Record (EHR) and all related tasks
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Receives and directs visitors and consumers
- Fields telephone calls
- Manages office calendars
- Drafts and distributes consumer mailings
- Files consumer information
- Schedules appointments and processes consumer application requests
- Creates, processes and tracks purchase orders. Maintains records of orders and inventory and follows up with vendors on shipment and delivery.
- Completes additional assignments as delegated by supervisor
What Does Onboarding and Training Look Like?
You will work closely with our Business Operations Manager, who will be your direct supervisor. They will help you learn the daily skills needed to confidently carry out your job responsibilities. Following training you will have regular and ongoing contact with your supervisor to ensure support is provided.
Am I Qualified?
- Education/Training: Associates degree; Or certificate in medical billing or insurance coding preferred
- Experience: At least 1 year experience in a medical office setting
- Skills:
o Solid understanding of insurance principles, terminology and regulations that affect healthcare billing an coding
o Comprehensive skills in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software system(s)
o Comprehensive skills in patient and insurance billings, invoicing, and insurance claim processing
o Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
o Strong organizational and time management skills
o Proficiency with data entry and Microsoft Office
o Specific knowledge and experience in industry preferred
