Job Summary:
The Medicaid Substance Abuse Medical Biller will be responsible for processing and managing billing and collections for Medicaid patients receiving substance abuse treatment services. This role requires a strong understanding of Medicaid billing regulations, substance abuse treatment coding, and a commitment to maintaining the financial health of the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
· Review and verify patient information for accuracy and completeness.
· Prepare and submit Medicaid claims for substance abuse treatment services in a timely and accurate manner.
· Ensure compliance with Medicaid billing guidelines, including correct use of diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD-10, CPT, etc.).
· Monitor claims status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
· Work with clinical staff to obtain necessary documentation for claim submission.
· Communicate with Medicaid representatives and other insurance carriers to resolve billing issues.
· Maintain accurate records of billing and payment activities.
· Assist in the preparation of reports on billing activities, collections, and outstanding accounts.
· Stay updated on changes in Medicaid regulations and billing requirements for substance abuse services.
Job Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or certification in medical billing and coding preferred.
· Minimum of [2] years of experience in medical billing, preferably with a focus on Medicaid and/or substance abuse treatment services.
· Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
· Strong knowledge of Medicaid billing procedures, coding (ICD-10, CPT), and medical terminology.
