Summary:
The Payroll Manager oversees payroll operations for ~1000 union and non-union employees across multiple states and multiple legal entities. This role ensures compliance with labor laws, union agreements, and tax regulations while managing payroll systems and processes. The position also supervises 1-2 direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing & Compliance (70%)
- Manage payroll administration, ensuring accuracy and compliance with union contracts and multistate tax laws.
- Handle payroll deductions, benefits, and certified payroll reporting.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage laws, filing payroll tax reports and managing audits.
- Maintain and improve payroll policies and procedures.
- Systems & Process Improvement (10%)
- Serve as the Payroll Lead on reporting within ERP system.
- Optimize payroll systems and automation processes.
- Stakeholder Communication (10%)
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external auditors to resolve payroll issues and support reporting needs.
- Address employee payroll inquiries.
- Team Leadership (10%)
- Train, supervise, and support payroll staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
- 7-10 years of payroll experience, including multistate and union payroll; 3 years in a management role.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software; construction payroll experience preferred.
- CPP certification preferred.
Salary : $95,000 - $115,000
