JOB SUMMARY
After School Program Daily Operations:
- Maintains accurate student records, including attendance, and submits reports in accordance with Aspire procedures
- Ensures compliance with all safety and other regulatory and/or funder requirements
- Opens and closes the program in the absence of the After School Director
- Facilitates regular communications with parents/families about student attendance and behavior, as well as broader family engagement in the After School Program
- Assists in compiling and analyzing student performance data, conducting assessments and other data management as needed to support staff in delivering high-quality instruction
- Provides occasional classroom, small group or individualized instruction as needed to support regular program operations
- Provides other logistical and clerical support to the After School Director as needed
Team Leadership:
- Creates an environment of high expectations for learning, student behavior and staff professionalism
- Fosters a program culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students
- Develops and supports student behavior management systems and procedures to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning
- Oversees selected tutoring staff, contractors and volunteers as needed
Additional:
Demonstrate knowledge and support of Aspire Public Schools’ mission, vision, and value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
Perform other related duties as required and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies:
- Strong organizational and administration skills, including ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple responsibilities and deadlines
- Proficiency in use of computer technology and the internet, including MS Word and Excel
- Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team and to facilitate teamwork to complete complex projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with a variety of colleagues and stakeholders including parents, teachers and community partners
- Knowledge of child and/or youth development concepts and different learning styles; demonstrated enthusiasm for working with young people
- Ability and willingness to reflect and improve own performance, including developing knowledge of Aspire Instructional Guidelines and participating in Aspire professional development
- Spanish bilingual preferred
Minimum educational level:- Associates degree or successful completion of 48 units of college credit required. Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience required:
- Experience working with children or youth in a school or community-based setting
- Administrative/management experience in a nonprofit, school, or service business preferred
- Experience as a teacher or teaching assistant preferred
- Physical requirements:
- Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height
- Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping)
- Demonstrate normal depth perception
- Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, operate standard office equipment, and use a telephone
- See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aides
Work authorization requirements:
- Clear the Department of Justice background screening
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Provide health (TB) clearance (most update every four years)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work indoors in a standard office environment, computer lab, and/or classroom environment- Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments
- Exposure to dust, oils, and cleaning chemicals
- Some exposure to childhood and other diseases in a school environment
- May be required to work outside of typical work days and office hours to meet operational deadlines
Compensation:
Aspire offers its full-time employees a competitive salary and benefits, including paid time off, 100% core health benefits coverage on select plans, life insurance/long-term disability, participation in a CA state retirement plan, tuition reimbursement plan, and adoption assistance program.
Our salary schedule based on years of experience for this position type is an hourly rate of $31.71- $57.44 for the 24-25 school year.
