Job Description and Requirements
The Dean of Students will remain in compliance with all state and federal laws, and all state board of education policies. The Dean of Students will provide day-to-day educational leadership and assume the following key responsibilities:
· Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in student services and vocational education.
· Work closely with school administration, teachers, and staff to support student achievement and well-being.
· Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding available services and programs.
· Develop and implement crisis intervention strategies and support systems.
· Provide leadership during emergencies, coordinating with school administration, law enforcement, and other stakeholders.
· Offer support and resources to students and families during crises.
· Ensure all student services programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
· Prepare and submit reports on student performance, program effectiveness, and other relevant metrics.
· Maintain accurate records of student services activities and outcomes.
· Address student behavior issues and develop intervention strategies in collaboration with teachers and parents.
· Design and oversee programs aimed at improving student retention, graduation rates, and post-secondary success.
· Develop partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and post-secondary institutions to enhance student opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS: The candidate must have five years of experience in school leadership and hold a NC license in school administration or the completion of an approved program in school administration at the master's level or above that will transfer to a NC license in school administration. A Master’s Degree in school administration and Career and Technical Education experience would be preferred but not required. High school and charter school leadership experience is also highly desired. The candidate must have strong relationship building skills and be comfortable with a wide variety of stakeholder relationships. The candidate must enjoy and have a reputation of being present for daily interactions with the student body and staff. The Dean of Students must be a positive leader for the school with an open-door policy and an enthusiasm for excellence.
