What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic and Career Counselor position at Aspire Youth Development?
Purpose of Organization:
Aspire equips the emerging workforce through innovative career services and leadership training. These programs prepare young adults (ages 16-24) for their careers through workplace skills training, employment opportunities, as well as academic and vocational skills training. We develop a pipeline of young adults to meet employer needs, both now and in the future.
Program Overview:
Aspire seeks a full time Case Manager to primarily support our workforce development initiatives. Our programs prepare out-of-school young adults ages 16-24 (OSY) to make a successful transition into self-sufficiency and financial independence, through high school equivalency/academic support; work experience leading to career opportunities; career skills training; and personal supportive services.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide case management services for a caseload of approximately 15-30 participants (ages 16-24).
· Develop and facilitate training on life skills, benefits counseling, and workplace skills.
· Academic monitoring and follow-up to ensure participants remain on track to obtain their high school diploma or transition to college.
· Provide ongoing career guidance, planning and counseling.
· Collaborate with employers and occupational training providers to share opportunities with participants and follow progress once employed/enrolled in training.
· Provide detailed documentation of case management notes that reflect participant progress and contacts from staff.
· Monitor participant progress and update datebase to reflect program progress.
· Conduct program outreach, marketing and intake new participants.
· Assist the Aspire team with other programs and administrative responsibilities, as needed.
