- To do their role, it's very helpful for a person to be handy- someone who has a foot in both worlds (networking guys don't understand building things and building guys don't understand networking things, so as PM need to be bridge in between
- AutoCAD experience and general knowledge is a must-don't need super in-depth knowledge because they aren't designing whole buildings, but like layers, blocks, etc
- Need to understand how to bring in an XREF and publish out (that's an architects drawing-laying an it builds on top on the existing design. If you say XREF to someone and they don't know what it is, probably not the right person
- Key to have the right mindset with concepts in IT and building world but willing to train on a lot, but the higher the knowledge of power, cooling, how to design a cable plan etc the better
- The team focuses on when offices are altered, designing the IT room for that space- for new hq they treat them like tiny data centers, and also reaching out to other teams (print team, desktop team, all hardware ish teams) to see what needs to be in that office, calculating what needs to fit in the room for space power and cooling, and also consult and design cable plan out of that room to the office floor itself. Looking for tech background who understands networking and data center, someone who understands power and cooling and builds
- Need to be able to read and interpret design documents
- At least 3 years data center design exp
- Certifications: CDCDP, CDCMP both are good but not a dealbreaker-experience wins over certifications
