GOVERNMENT PAYMENT AUDIT SPECIALIST

The Government Payment Audit Coordinator manages government payment audit activity across all organizational business units and services lines. The coordinator intakes, logs and tracks the audit status from receipt to final resolution; coordinates and collaborates with audit subject matter expert (SME) reviewers and appeal writers to assure timely audit and appeal response; and manages and improves workflows, tracking process and tools. The coordinator works closely with business unit contacts to educate on process, and with SME auditors for clarification and status updates. Further, the coordinator analyzes and summarizes audit activity for the Compliance Program Operations Committee (CPOC). This role is the key point of contact on government payment audit activity and working with all stakeholders, assures we have a consistent and efficient government audit tracking and response process that results in minimizing organizational risk of government payment recoupments.

HOURS: Full Time 1.0 FTE, 80 Hours Biweekly

Experience/Qualifications

• Knowledge of healthcare and revenue cycle operations normally acquired through completion of an associate or bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in healthcare business, health information or administration field desired.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience working with medical records, claims processes, interaction with payers, claim denials, writing appeals, or coding preferred.
• Previous experience and familiarity with CMS regulations, billing compliance, Medicare, Medicaid and other third-party reimbursement methodologies.
• Must have working knowledge of medical record documentation.
• Demonstrates proficiency with Windows based computer skills.
• Possesses excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Detail oriented with high degree of accuracy in work products.
