Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Engineering site surveys and analysis
Prepare protection & control schematics, wiring drawings and relay philosophies for substation modifications
Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a variety of substation protection and controls issues
Feasibility studies
Load studies and energy analysis
Computer Aided Drafting
Computer-Aided Drafting Quality Control
Engineering Quality Control
Lead/support product design reviews
Lead quality improvement initiatives for projects
Great ability to read and interpret short circuit and protective device coordination studies
Detailed design of power distribution systems, including but not limited to: Medium voltage protective relaying, Medium voltage substation, Service entrance switchboards, Engine generators, Uninterruptible power supply systems, Monitoring and controls systems, Lighting and lighting control systems, Fire alarm and security systems
Develop one-line diagrams, control schematics, and electrical & instrument diagrams (E&IDs)
Perform equipment selections, load calculations, control diagrams, systems narratives, commissioning planning and execution, and creating specification documents
Utilize basic engineering principles and practical design solutions
Assist in the development and review of custom designs and sequences
Develop and implement integrated systems testing procedures and commissioning
Assist with project management to deliver projects on time and within budget
Work with Clients, Salesman, Managers, and Engineers to coordinate project designs
Work with sub-consultant(s) to coordinate trades
Attend job meetings & coordinate activities as required
Attend training as requested to further enhance your duties
Train and mentor entry and mid-level engineers
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability to work accurately, with attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Outstanding initiative, a well-organized and strong sense of responsibility
Excellent computer knowledge and advanced skills using CAD and Microsoft Word and Excel are required
Education & Experience:
BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with a focus on Power Systems or similar
Hold a current, active PE license in Pennsylvania
Licensure in the additional state(s) is an advantage
7 years of experience with 3-5 years of experience in relay/protection engineering or related disciplines
Programming knowledge or experience with protection relays and other substation equipment
Experience with REVIT is an advantage
License & Certifications:
Driver License Preferred, but not required.
Travel:
Occasional overnight stays and local day travel may be necessary. You will be responsible for providing your own transportation to and from the office and job sites. You will be reimbursed for business expenses such as tolls, parking and business-related mileage at a rate allowable by government standards. The expenses incurred traveling to and from the office are excluded from reimbursement.
Physical Requirements:
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
