Aspro, Inc. was founded in July 1973 with the purchase of an asphalt plant and a sand and gravel deposit from Waterloo Dredging Company. In its first five years of operation, Aspro, Inc. was strictly a producer of asphalt, sand and gravel. In 1978, asphalt paving construction crews were added which accelerated growth even more. Today, Aspro operates two asphalt plants in the Waterloo area and offers asphalt paving, general road and street construction as well as commercial parking lot construction in the Waterloo/cedar Falls area and the surrounding counties.
Job Description
General Laborer - Non- Skilled
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform tasks involving physical labor at highway construction projects. May operate hand and power tools of all types. May clean and prepare sites, clean up rubble and debris and assist other craft workers. Operate jackhammers and drills to break up pavement. Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment and materials. Tend pumps, compressors and generators to provide power for tools, machinery and equipment or to heat and move materials such as asphalt. Clean and maintain machinery and equipment. Control traffic passing near, in and around work zones. Erect and disassemble traffic barriers and other temporary structures. Dig, compact, backfill, level items to grade specifications using picks, shovels, tampers and rakes. Load and unload materials, machinery and tools to appropriate locations. Shovel asphalt and other materials. Drive a company pickup to run miscellaneous errands. Class B recommended.
