JOB SUMMARY
The Counter Sales is a member of the Builders Choice Lumber sales team and is responsible for customer sales, including pulling and preparing orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist customers in-person, over the phone, or email.
- Pull and prepare orders.
- Answer customers' questions regarding products, pricing, availability, and payment options.
- Consult with customers to aid in the appropriate selection and purchase of merchandise.
- Work with colleagues throughout the organization to ensure excellent customer experience from the order inception to receipt by the customer.
- Work hand-in-hand with management, by performing the administrative functions required to achieve the task at hand.
- Ensures proper handling of building materials to limit damage, including packaging materials for transportation.
- Moves material from the warehouse or yard using a forklift, hand truck or other types of equipment.
- Properly builds loads considering the end users order of use, weight, and proper placement on the truck in relation to the delivery schedule.
- Listen and respond empathetically when faced with customer concerns. Seek quick resolution to issues raised.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one (1) year of construction industry experience.
- At least one (1) year of sales or customer service experience.
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products and other window-based programs at a beginner level.
- Ability to meet safety requirements for the position.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work outside or in a cold environment for long durations.
- Ability to work varying hours and overtime as required by the position.
Preferred
- Forklift experience and certification.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Three (3) years, or more, working in shipping and receiving or another related field.
