What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reference Librarian position at ASRC Federal?
Agile Decision Sciences, LLC (ADS), a subsidiary of ASRC Federal Holding Company, is seeking an experienced Reference Librarian to support our on-going programs at the EPA (National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory) in Ann Arbor, MI. This role is hybrid/primarily remote and in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. ADS holds a nationwide contract for library and records management services with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency. ASRC librarians, records managers and support staff collect, organize and maintain library and records materials; assist EPA and external customers with document delivery/ILL, reference and research services, etc.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution
At least eight years of comparable experience in an academic or special library
Experience searching using Web of Science, Lexis, and ProQuest Dialog.
Proficiency with MS Office and SharePoint
Ability to work independently in a small office environment and be able to communicate effectively, patiently, and courteously with all patrons and staff.
Knowledge of automotive or transportation industry or transportation/air pollution regulations is a plus.
US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency status in order to pass a government sponsored background investigation.
Experience with web-coding and web maintenance technology and applications.
Familiarity with ALMA integrated library system.
Responsibilities:
Supports the research and reference needs of a diverse patron base including EPA staff, researchers, and contractors, working in the areas of the environmental and health effects of the automotive industry and other mobile sources.
Provides reference and interlibrary loan services using processes and standards established by EPA and the National Library Program.
Searches online databases, such as Web of Science, ScienceDirect, SAE Mobilus, ProQuest Dialog, Hein Online, and PubMed to locate information requested by patrons.
Engages in outreach activities to promote the library, including providing current awareness service and training on information/library related topics.
Maintains the library's physical collections of books, serials, EPA publications, and other materials.
Provides backup coverage of website maintenance activities.
