Job Summary: Gulf Coast Industrial is currently seeking an Industrial Coatings Helper/Laborer. This position must effectively and safely assist the Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor in surface preparation, coatings application, and all associated phases of industrial coatings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- As directed by the Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor, assists in preparing surfaces and applying coatings to various structures, tanks, piping, and miscellaneous surfaces in accordance with customers' specifications and manufacturers' recommendations.
- Assists in assembling, maintaining, and repairing, and cleaning abrasive blasting and painting equipment.
- May assist in mixing and thinning the coatings according to manufacturers' recommendations.
- Assist in constructing protective enclosures to avoid overspray of customers' equipment.
- Cooperating with GCI supervisors and companion workers in carrying out assigned work.
- Assist in loading, unloading, and storage of equipment and supplies.
- At all times, perform their work in the safest possible manner. Immediately inform the GCI supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
- Keep the job site clean by keeping it clear of all trash, unused paint materials, etc.
- Any other duties assigned by Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor.
Key Requirements, Education, and Experience:
- Must be able to follow the directions of the Sandblaster/Painter and supervisors.
- Must perform a variety of industrial coatings duties which may often change.
- Must be willing to learn all aspects of assigned tasks.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in safety-related aspects of assigned tasks.
- Must have prior knowledge of, and the physical ability to safely operate industrial coatings equipment, including: respiratory equipment; personal protective equipment including hard hats, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, harnesses, chemical resistant gloves, respirators, and ear plugs; blast pots, hoppers, and hoses; various sized compressors ranging from 185 to 1600 CFM; conventional spray pots and associated spray guns; airless spray pumps and associated spray guns; QC equipment such as dry film thickness gauges; aerial platforms and manlifts, forklifts, bobcats, common hand and power tools, ladders, ropes, tarps, fuel pumps, generators, and pressure washers.
