Position Summary
The CNC Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the CNC machining team to ensure efficient and high-quality production. This role involves leading a team of machinists, providing training and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities
- Read technical drawings and set up the machines in accordance with part blueprints
- Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications
- Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise
- Train new employees on how to properly operate CNC machines
- Perform dimensional inspection of product as required
- Perform weekly safety and maintenance checks, and document
- Enter last run statement
- Monitor and change cutting tools or inserts as needed
- Run production when necessary
- Aware at all times of correct orientation of product being placed in machinery
- Enter commands and store programs in computer memory to build and maintain source files
- Adjust feed rates and speeds, utilizing knowledge of CNC machine operation
- Review shop orders and drawings to determine job specifications and requirements
- Light supervisory duties reporting to Production Supervisor
- Attend production meetings as required and provide full departmental updates.
- Review all CNC SOPs on a periodic bases and update as needed.
- Inventory tooling and pallets used for all CNC operations.
- Read shop order and obtain correct product type and quantity to run
- Inform Production Supervisor of any issues with operation or quality
- Maintain a clean workstation
- Wear proper PPE at all times and conform to all safety rules and regulations
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- MUST have vertical machining center experience
- Experience with set-up and operation of vertical CNC/HAAS Machines
- 7-10 years CNC experience, preferred
- Able to foresee changes relevant to area of responsibility
- Able to organize work assignments to ensure efficient operations of CNC machining environment
- Communicate in a clear and concise manner to achieve intended objective
- Organize machining center to meet production objectives for optimum cost, quality, speed, throughput, and on-time customer deliveries
- Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems that arise
- Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential
- Able to use and read precise measuring tools
- Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Must be able to periodically lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
Educational & Certification
- High School Diploma or GED
Software Skills
- Some CAM or programming knowledge, preferably Mastercam

Salary : $22 - $29
